Hey everyone! I’m talking about decorative pillow ideas! Pillows, toss cushions… Whatever you call them, they’re kind of a must-have when it comes time to complete the look of your living room. It’s part of accessorizing. Also… Do you chop your pillows?? My thoughts on this topic a little later on… So many of my clients have a slightly panicked look on their faces when I bring up pillows so let’s get some things right out in the open…

Can you share some stores or brands that sell 5% vs 30% down inserts? Since watching this super, awesome helpful video I’ve gone to Homegoods and could only find 100% polyester decorative pillows. Now I’m looking online at Crate & Barrel, where I can only find 95/5 feather/down, and West Elm is only listing inserts as “100% feather down” (so 70/3 or 95/5 for $18.50?)
Any more general buying tips would be appreciated even if you don’t name specific companies! Anyway, you’re lovely and these tips were fabulous, have a wonderful day 🤗🏠

She makes some good points about size and filling, but that’s where we part company. I design pillows and think of them as small pieces of art. I don’t limit myself to placing them just on sofas and beds; to me, art fits anywhere. And I don’t think of my floors as “the ground”; my carpets are vacuumed every day, and I love placing pillows of all sizes around my rooms. They aren’t out of place on my bookshelves and side tables.

How do you keep your pillows fresh?
Let’s talk form over function. The former is the emphasis in this video. Okay, a lot of pillows together may look pretty and introduce spark to a room. But, sofas and chairs are for people to sit on in comfort. There has to be room to accommodate that. One pillow behind each person is useful. If there are more than 3 on a sofa, for instance, how do the sitters deal with the excess pillows? Ditto on a bed. The pile of decorative pillows has to have its own resting spot when it is time to get into bed. Ask a guest who has to politely honor the stack when their personal items need to occupy horizontal surfaces in the room. Do they pitch pillows on the floor? Well, you get my point.

Nice tutorial, I learned what material to use as an insert and why… I like the chop method but have a 150 year old house so Why Bother it gets to the floor anyway… LOL

What would you recommend for a mustard yellow couch ? I have a lounge couch and the color is already busy.. I want to put pillows but I’m so confused on what would look good
